Emergency Drain Unblocking in Ely

Blocked Drains Cleared Day and Night in Ely

Ely households and businesses in the CB6 and CB7 postcode districts can call Emergency Local Plumbers at any hour when a drain blocks. A kitchen sink that will not empty, a toilet backing up or an outside gully spilling over the patio are all problems we deal with, and we take the call on a weekday afternoon or in the middle of a Sunday night.

Our first job on arrival is finding exactly where the pipe is blocked, because that decides the right way to clear it. You hear what we have found and what it will cost before we start. Cover extends across the East Cambridgeshire District Council area. We are fully insured, every clearance is guaranteed, and we leave you with advice on keeping the drain running.

What's included

What Our Emergency Drain Clearance Covers in Ely

What the work covers, explained to you before anything starts.

  • Blocked toilets that will not flush or are filling towards the rim, cleared so the toilet can be used again.
  • Slow or blocked sinks, basins, baths and showers, traced beyond the trap to wherever the waste is held up.
  • Outside gullies and drain grids that are pooling or spilling over, cleared so dirty water stops collecting by the building.
  • Overflowing manholes and inspection chambers, opened up to find which length of pipe is holding the blockage.
  • Gurgling plugholes, slow-draining fittings and foul smells, checked for a partial blockage before it becomes a full one.
  • A flow test once the pipe is clear, so you know it is running freely, with advice on what caused the blockage.

Pricing

How We Price Drain Unblocking in Ely

We confirm the cost once we have seen the drain, and in Ely it comes down to:

  • Where the blockage sits, from a single waste pipe near the fitting to a shared run further down the drain.
  • What has caused it, since fat, wipes, sanitary items, silt and roots each call for a different approach.
  • How easy it is to reach the drain, including access to manhole covers, gullies and access points.
  • Whether one fitting is affected or several drains across the property are backing up.
  • Whether a cracked, collapsed or displaced pipe is found that needs repairing before the drain will run as it should.

How it works

Clearing Your Ely Drain from First Call to Final Check

What happens from your first call to the finished work.

  1. Locate the Blockage

We ask what is backing up and where, then check the fittings, gullies and manholes to work out which section of pipe is blocked.

  2. Explain and Quote

We tell you what we have found and how we plan to clear it, and you agree the price before we begin.

  3. Clear the Pipe

We clear the blockage with the method that suits the pipe and the cause, protecting floors and fittings as we work.

  4. Test and Advise

We run water through to confirm the drain flows, review the completed work with you and confirm everything has been done as agreed, then suggest how to avoid a repeat.

FAQs

Common Questions About Blocked Drains in Ely

Can I send photos of the problem before you arrive?

Yes, you can send photos by WhatsApp. A picture of an overflowing manhole or a backed-up gully helps us understand the problem and come prepared for it.

Why are my sink, bath and toilet all draining slowly at once?

When several fittings slow down together, the blockage is usually further down the drain, past the point where their waste pipes join. Clearing one plughole will not help in that case, so we trace the drain to find the blocked section.

Do you unblock drains for businesses in Ely?

Yes. We clear drains for shops, offices, restaurants and other commercial premises across CB6 and CB7 as well as homes, and we can plan the work to keep disruption to your business down.

What should I do while I wait for you?

Stop running taps, flushing toilets and using appliances that drain into the blocked pipe, as more water will only back up further. Keep children and pets away from any overflowing manhole and do not try to lift a heavy cover yourself.
